first belly laugh of her life

Got a big ole belly laugh out of Julia today in the store with a blue stuffed bird. She thought it was so funny.

TJ of course, has adopted the stuffed animal and calls it Polly. He's napping with it now.

not sitting up yet and height and weight

She's still like jello when you try to get her to sit up. Everything else (rolling over, making noise, tracking things with eyes, eating, sleeping, height, weight) is right on track. 15.9 lbs and 25 3/4/ inches today.

bubble gum

TJ: Blow a bubble.

Mama complies.

TJ: Do it again.

Mama complies.

Repeat 17,000 times.

Throw in "I want to touch it."

Mama complies.

TJ touches it and then runs screaming across the house.

Comes back a second later.

"Do it again."

He's not sleeping

Thought TJ was napping.

Just walked by his room and I hear him singing "If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands."

C'mon, how can I tell him to go to sleep now?!

grease and singers

Twenty minutes of my life yesterday consisted of googling "hamburger grease clog" due to the english muffin floating in the full sink of greasy dishes and water. I thought I remember reading somewhere that bread will soak up the fat globules. In that case, maybe I should eat more bread.

It pretty much ended up draining on its own, with a loud sucking "WHOOOOSH" that scared TJ and I in the living room. After that, TJ and I put a concoction of apple cider vinegar and baking soda down the sink, which may not have helped the clog, but looked damn cool. Then we boiled water and put that down the sink too.

Then I tried to put the sick 5-month-old girl down for a nap, which didn't work out as well as I had hoped.

As that is happening, TJ is watching Sesame Street videos online (God Bless Sesame Street) as I am reading an article on how to remove lice from one's head. No valid reason whatsoever for reading that, except that it was pretty well written and interested me.

I hear a beautiful singing voice from the computer singing "One, Two, Three, Four." It was so stunning, I took a moment to stop reading my lice article to listen. It was so clear and beautiful, it seriously brought a tear to my eye. The singer is Feist.

Today I listened to her stuff on itunes and while it is still gorgeous, it was such a moment yesterday when I first heard her on Sesame Street that hearing the "real" version of the song did not do it for me.

I think it had to do with the fact that I love having the kids this small and Sesame Street to me just rocks and it is cool that they have pop culture singers on it and maybe a little emotional from getting oh about four hours sleep the night before.

No not that hand!

Mama: It's near your right hand.

TJ, looking at his left hand: I want my right hand to be on this arm!

S-T-R-E-T-C-H

Today JP and TJ are blueberry picking with their friends, is that not the cutest thing ever?

And Julia is sleeping and I'm writing.

How sad is it that I just stretched and felt very lucky to be able to give a big uninterrupted morning stretch since it was probably the first time in at least 6 months.

I actually slept through the whole night last night for the first time in at least a month. Thank you Julia, thank you TJ.

I am ignoring this scratchy pain I am beginning to feel on the left side of my throat.

changing table

It really should not make me feel so satisfied just to have a cover on the baby's changing pad.

But it does.

2nd tooth!

Lady at party: Oh, she's young to have two teeth, isn't she?

Mama: No, she only has one.

Lady: Pretty sure she has two.

Sure, enough, Julia has another tooth that popped through! Must have been today or yesterday because Friday at the doctor she only had one.

Mama, be polite

Mama, talking to Daddy in car: "GGG* (our doctor) said that teething cannot cause fever, but I think that's why she had the fever the other day."

TJ from back seat: "Mommy, call him Doctor GGG, not GGG."

dishwasher

Today I was going to empty the dishwasher, which I do over and over and over and over and over, and it was empty!!

rats and penises and babies up too early

We are having a crazy time here this week, between the dogs getting sprayed by the skunk and another rat (euw euw euw) killed by my manly husband, I am getting so skeebed out I am scared to go in the yard. This morning there is something dead in the yard - or at least pretending to be dead but probably just waiting for me to go investigate it so it can get me. I don't know what it is, because I am too scared to go close to it to find out. What if these animals get into the house and eat us? If you don't hear from me again, you'll know that's what happened.

TJ woke up Julia too early this morning and all hell broke loose.

I need a massage.

TJ has asked me a couple of times lately why I don't have a penis.

what to wear to the pool

TJ calls our bathing suits swimming lessons.

Looking at me wearing my bathing suit: "You got your swimming lessons on, Mama?"

No YeeHah

We just got home.

Went to Texas Roadhouse.

When I gave a big Texas Roadhouse yee-hah, (people next to us had a birthday), TJ burst into tears.

6 months old

She can put her feet in her mouth now.

So talented.

10 living things in this house

To add to the two kids, two adults, two dogs, three cats, we now have another living thing in the house. A caterpillar. It's big and thick and green and it's in a lemonade jar and I think is getting ready to make its cocoon.

I'm definitely a mom

Sign at Agway said "bird feeders - 25% off" but being a new mom here is what I saw:

Breast feeders 25% off.

It's shrinking!

Is it just me or are products getting smaller? Or am I just growing?

Even a large pizza seems smaller to me.

I'll take those so I won't need those

I find it hilarious that the condoms are located directly next to the diapers.
