I have staples but no stapler.
How have I not discovered tabouli until now?
On pretzel thins, mmm mmmm mmmm.
Why does the last bite of something always taste the best?
Julia snagged her sock on a nail that was sticking up through the hardwood floor.
Julia: I want my slippers.
Mama, opening closet door for her because it sticks and it's too hard for her little 3-year-old hands to manipulate: OK, go get them.
Julia, holding up her monkey slipper: I can only find one!
Mama points to the other one: There it is.
Julia, picks it up: I was worried about you!
Easter Faire.
Madagascar Live.
Bringing a salad for lunch.
Not happy about it.
TJ, contrary to my loathe of salad, loves it. He orders it in restaurants with Italian dressing. How awesome is that for a 5-year-old?
I am a little bit too fascinated with other people's food.
On the train.
Arguing about manly business suits with the three women at my table. I am telling you right now, women's business suits need to be way cuter than what they are. Right now, they are like men's.
That's what I'm saying and these ladies don't like it. 55, 45 and 39.
An escalator is not a ride.
Julia loves listening to Christmas music, despite the fact that it is spring.
Jingle bells is by far her favorite and she gets very upset if the song plays and she doesn't, in fact, have her jingle bells* with her.
*jingle bells = red pipe cleaner made into a circle, threaded through three bells.
Mama: let's go to a restaurant for dinner. What are you hungry for?
Julia: a waffle!
TJ: macaroni and cheese
TJ: you know what's worse than a rainy carnival?
Daddy: no, TJ, what?
TJ: a festival in a tornado.
Julid didn't like my new skirt. It's cute, very basic, sort of a denim, linen material, little belt.
As I was putting it on this morning, she was bossing me around - telling me "Fix it! Don't wear that. Hide THAT! (the belt)" It was very obvious she wasn't feeling how my skirt looked.
Later in the day, I told her "Everyone loved my skirt today, Julia."
She looked at me with a very serious look on her face and said "everyone but me."
Mama: It's going to be Mother's Day soon.
TJ: Do they have a Kid's Day?
I had to walk away from Julia to do something for TJ. So I ask him "TJ, can you just go read that last page to her so I can get this started?" and he says "sure!"
How awesome is that?
Julia is the last one sleeping. I hear her making noise so go in to get her.
"You left me hanging," she tells me. Then she giggles.
Beer with lunch: Wells banana bread from a bottle and Young's double chocolate stout. Mixed together to make me happy at Doherty's in Pawtucket.
