41 years old and I just learned how to tie a square knot today. Due to a skirt with a belt that needed a square knot.
It's really easy.
Best parts of Mama's Day:
#1. The card TJ made for me. It is absolutely precious. He calls me Osim and Funnee. And drew a picture of me smoking with a just say no line through it. (I don't smoke, which makes it even more awesome). It also features a drawing of me in a top hat.
Love. Love. Absolute love.
#2. TJ and Julia dancing to "We are family." Every move TJ makes, Julia makes. It is just adorable.
#3. The kids getting along and playing together so well, without needing constant intervention. Sigh of relief here.
#4. The kabobs made by the Grill Master. Yummmmm.
#5. The cold blueberry beer.
#6. Feeling lots of love.
#7. Sleeping until 9 a.m. (despite one 2 a.m. wake up call from Julia)
A really nice day.
Ever since TJ could talk, he refers to being born as "boring" as in the following: "When I was first boring, I couldn't walk or talk."
I love it.
Julia let's me know she's ready to eat by telling me "I am hun-gary, Mama."
Hun-ga-ree.
I can't bear to correct either one of them.
It's too cute.
Georgia is the devil.
Really, it's May and I'm still wearing my winter jacket with a fur hood????
I need a dark green sweater.
And no more purple shirts.
And more cute pants in my life.
I bought what may possibly be the ugliest pair of shoes that I have ever owned today.
However, they may be so ugly that they are cute.
I'm hoping.
At the checkout line in Trader Joe's with my reusable bags that I remembered to bring for once.
Talking to the cashier guy about how I'm the worst bagger ever and the weather, and Julia and bladey-blah-blah. I'm not even really paying attention to the conversation that we are having.
He says "you just have to sigh and accept it."
I think about that for a second and then wholeheartedly agree with him. "That's a great philosophy!" I tell him, "I love that! Just sigh and accept it. More people should try that."
He looks at me a little funny.
I go on a little more. "It's really good, because you can't change things, you know, things are the way they are, if you stress out about it, it doesn't change anything. Just sigh and accept it. I like it!"
He looks at me and laughs, "the credit card swiper, please sign it and hit accept."
Oh.
Hahaha.
I still think it's a good way to look at life. So I signed and accepted it, then sighed and accepted it.
Getting ready for kickboxing class.
Putting on my socks and sneakers, talking to the family.
Julia looks at my sock as I'm pulling it on and tells me: Mama, you made the wrong choice.
Just saw a bottle of chocolate wine in the liquor store.
I now own a bottle of chocolate wine.
Looking over my receipt from the doctor, shows my name and my "category."
Category: Age 40-64.
Ugh.
