I just offered TJ $5 if he sleeps later than we do tomorrow.

He slept later than me.

The only reason that I am awake is because Julia decided to forgo her usual 9:30 a.m. wake up time to wake me up at 7 a.m. to ask me if it was wake up time.

I should have extended to deal to her too.

So tired, can't study. Going to set my alarm for the morning, early, so I can study. The power went off today. The time flashing? 341. The same number of the form they used to pull when we were in trouble during basic training...

Coincidence?

Maybe I should study.

People in Texas give you bullets as going away presents.

Almost came face-to-face with a black widow spider. Well, actually another part of the body, since it was on a chair. But yikes. Had the red markings clear as day.

I had a dream last night that I had $24 in my bank account.

Maybe I need to stop shopping.

I get my horoscope in my email. I don't always look at it, but I did today, here in Texas.

Here's what it tells me.

Your wallet is leaking. That's not to say that you're leaving a trail of twenties behind you, though it may feel that way after you make one impulsive purchase after another. Try to tighten up!

I walk into the bathroom in the middle of the night and there's a cockroach that is delicately perching on the handle of my toothbrush. Staring me down.

I flush his cockroach ass directly down the toilet. Those who know me well know the damage this did to me. The cockroaches and me, not so much a good mix.

Fighting my own war right here in Texas.

Had to buy a really ugly, really bright pink sweatshirt that says Boston in huge letters in the airport for $24.99 because I was cold.

Lesson learned.

It did NOT look good with my outfit.

I love suggestion boxes. If I have an idea that can make a place better, I always put my ideas in them. If I was running the joint, and people had ideas, I would want to know. Plus I can usually run the place better than the way it's being run.

TJ seems to have inherited this from me.

His two suggestions for the gym so far:

#1. Make it better.

#2. Make more pools here.

In the car, Julia's getting angry because she thinks no one is listening to her.

Starts yelling at TJ and I. John is still at work.

Julia: NOBODY MAKES THE RIGHT CHOICES EXCEPT FOR DADDY!

TJ wants to be a zookeeper, a veterinarian or a magician.

Julia wants to be a vampire or a pilot or she may just drive.

TJ, Julia and John are at Monster Golf.

She's doing ok until a huge dragon rises up from the back corner.

She runs to John.

Julia: Daddy! It's a scary dragon!

Daddy: Julia, it's not real. It's a fake dragon.

Julia: It's a SCARY fake dragon!

TJ, peeking into a storefront and whispering: Mama.

Mama: Yes, TJ?

TJ: Come and look at the alien.

Mama peeks in to see a woman sitting in a hair salon underneath an old fashioned white hair dryer, doming over the top of her head. She did look very similar to an alien.

I was teasing Julia the other day and she tells me "get out of town!" and I just overheard TJ say to her "Hey Joe, what do ya know?"...they make me giggle.

When TJ says something wrong and I correct him, he says "my bad" or "my mistake."

He also says "in order to" - example "Julia, in order to go to the playground, we have to be good today."

Which cracks me right up.

Julia asked me the other day "why are you so exhausted? I mean, confused."

She also starts off a good amount of her sentences with "actually."

Typical conversation with Julia:

Mama: Julia you are so sweet. (or anything - this milk is delicious, this cup is yellow, the sky is pretty, the phone is ringing...)

Julia: Why?

Mama: Because you are smart and kind and beautiful...

Julia: Why?

Mama: Because that's the way you are.

Julia: Why am I like that?

Mama: Because we taught you to be like that and plus you are special.

Julia: Why?

Mama: Because you are a good girl.

Julia: Why am I a good girl?

Lather, rinse, repeat until infinity.

Got the keratin done again.

Worried about it this time for the following reasons:

1. She didn't seem to take little tiny sections of my hair like the other two hairdressers did when I got it done. Particularly the first time, if I remember correctly, it was almost as though she was doing 4 or 5 strands of hair at a time. This lady didn't even seem to do all my under layers.

2. We spring cleaned the crap out of the house today. Yeah, I know it's the last day of July, don't judge. We're on a different schedule than everyone else. I worked hair and my hair got wet, and I can tell it wants - it is yearning - to be curly.
