it's basically true, yup, with a little bit of fun thrown in

Thomas and I were having a conversation in the car...

Basically he summed up life by saying this:

First you go to college, then you get married, then you buy a house, then you have babies, then you die.

dreamy job

I want to be a cell phone tester. Wouldn't that be fun?

what would you do?

Reading a review on Amazon.com

The post says "Customers don't think this post adds to the discussion. Show post anyway."

Um, hell yeah, I'm clicking on that.

the tooth fairy is coming again!

We seriously put a piece of yarn around Thomas' tooth, tied it to a door and slammed the door and it came out on the second try.

The tooth fairy will have to try to top the $1 bill she left him on the first tooth he lost. It was shaped like a house!

What will she do tonight? And how does the tooth fairy learn to fold money like that? I'm guessing youtube.

badasses

Who goes hiking when it's 11 degrees outside?

Thomas and I do, that's who!

being together

Christmas, 2011. "I got what I wanted...Panda Village." Opening presents, being with my family and eating cake. My favorite part was being together.

4th best day

Direct quotes from Thomas.

Today was my 4th best day!

I watched Charlie Brown on Daddy's computer. My second favorite part was climbing up a pile of wood. My third best part was Julia giving me the lion. My fourth best part was getting my new pajamas. And going on my hike! And seeing the deer in the back woods.

Mama, write down this joke: What did the coach of our team say when they were going to play football in the woods?

HIKE!

shattered

My poor doggie broke his ankle.

He spent some time at Tufts and is finally back home, limping away with a huge bandage and shaved parts everywhere, due to a bone graft.

really happy moments

How good is it when you can't remember your password and then you try the same password with a different email account and it lets you in?

Best!

Another exciting moment happened to me the other day. I had to change my password at work, which means symbols and caps and numbers and letters, all together, or not and not this, but you need that.

Get ready for this.

I changed it successfully on the first try.

don't depend on me!

Driving to pick the kids up at school today, I realize I don't have a snack for them.

Oh no. They will not be happy.

I decide I have time to stop somewhere quickly so I pull into a gas station 7-11 type of store.

I walk in and don't really notice if there are any customers or what the cashier looks like, because I'm focused on what I'm going to buy them and get out of there fast. Thomas needs protein to keep him feeling good and Julia is not really too picky. I see the beef jerky and I am amazed that it's almost $7 for a bag. I see some cheese balls for $2. No, I can't do that. Yuck.

I poke around a little bit more until I settle on my purchases (a bag of whole grain goldfish and a single stick of beef jerky) and go to the register and put my stuff down.

No one is there.

Hello? I call out.

Nothing.

No one is in the store at all.

Hellllloooo?

I walk to the door and look out. There's a guy pumping gas, seems to be having no problem. No employees in sight.

It's eerily quiet in a convenience store when you're the single soul in one.

I'm thinking that I may be in the middle of a robbery. Maybe I should just get out of here, I'm thinking. But then I remember how the kids act with no snack and I decide to wait for one more minute. Plus what if the cashier needs help?

So, after a couple more minutes of me really starting to wonder, the guy comes out. "Oh, I forgot to put up the sign that we're supposed to put up when we're cleaning the bathroom. Sorry about that."

"No problem, I was worried about you," I told him, eyeing him closely to see if he was trying to give me any sort of signal. He didn't seem to be. I admitted to him that I probably would have not been much help, as I had no plan at all in mind and I had left my phone in the car.

Of course, I like to envision that I would have used my fighting skills to take anyone down.

I'm sure I made the guy feel much better that I had his back.

the lack of sleep is worth it

So, we try not to let the kids sleep in our bed.

But every now and then it happens, I'm not gonna lie.

And last night was one of those nights.

Julia somehow ended up in our bed and when the sun shone on my face this morning and woke me up, I opened my eyes to see a smiling 3-year-old inches away from my face.

She smiled for about 10 minutes while asking me about every part of my face. "What's that called?" "I like your eyebrows." "You have a pimple."

Sometimes she wakes up not so happy but today she woke up in a beautiful, happy, mood.

I loved it.

a direct quote from my 3-year-old

Julia: Trying on shoes is fun!

Mama: Yes. Yes it is.

Then we had a big conversation about shopping. This is going to be fun.

paaah

So, Julia, like all three-year-olds has a temper.

So much so that she gets angry and tries to show her anger by spitting.

Please note the keyword, tries.

She can't do it. She tries to hard and makes the noise, PAH, but nothing comes out.

It's actually really freaking hilarious to watch her. She's so cute and little and seeing her trying to spit like a trucker is pretty comical.

Of course, we can't laugh, because it is really improper behavior.

Yesterday, she tried to spit because she was angry about something.

"Julia, who taught you how to spit?" I ask her.

And John chimes in, under his breath, with "Apparently no one."
