big big girl

Julia is a big girl.

She's not afraid to tell you, either.

"I'm a big girl now, I'm not a little baby anymore. Those trucks over there are little babies. They cry and cry. I don't cry. I'm a big girl now. I'm not a little baby anymore."

Repeat for the ride home for four days.

Melt a little with love.

it's a little white (milk) lie

The warmchocolatemilk that we give Julia every night?

No chocolate in it all all, just warm milk.

It's for her own good!

on a historical note

Julia and I got our first manicures together today.

Christmas in April

Julia loves listening to Christmas music, despite the fact that it is spring.

Jingle bells is by far her favorite and she gets very upset if the song plays and she doesn't, in fact, have her jingle bells* with her.

*jingle bells = red pipe cleaner made into a circle, threaded through three bells.

...and I've been called it plenty of times

I'm pretty sure that "silly goose" is the three-year-old's version of saying "dumbass."

she makes me giggle

Julia tells me "I need another haircut. My last one is almost gone."

Actually

Julia uses the word "actually" often and perfectly.

on stage

Julia was picked to go on stage tonight at the Gazillion Bubble Show. She was so great and not scared at all. Fan Yang, the Master of All Things Bubbles, was looking for a little girl, someone smiling. Julia turned on the charm, with her biggest, brightest smile and he picked her.

They set the scene of a little girl who had to believe. She covered her eyes and when she took her hands off of her eyes, bubbles were EVERYWHERE.

It was magical.

Her take on it - "I was a little shy and there were a lot of bubbles!"

maybe a baby seal

I am not sure if there is anything in the world as cute as Julia saying the word "fever."

"faaa-ver"

She kills us with her cuteness. Oh and her eyelashes.

mismatch

Julia still insists every day on wearing socks that don't match. I love it.

next she'll be pulling a shiv

Julia gets mad and tries to spit.

It would probably get us really mad if she was a successful spitter, but alas, she is the worst spitter on the face of the planet.

PAAAAAH, she makes this big dramatic sound. No spit comes out.

We try not to laugh.

she eats, he eats

Julia lives on this:

waffles
strawberries
warm chocolate milk (white milk put in the microwave for 1 minute, 30 seconds)
pasta
pieces of ham or roast beef
peas
bread
plain bagels (WARM! WITH NOTHING ON IT!)
plain bagels (COLD! WITH BUTTER)
cheese pizza
chicken nuggets (from McDonalds but I think she only does it for the toy)
apple slices from the kid's meal
french fries sporadically
pretzels
goldfish
hard boiled eggs

TJ eats pretty much the same thing.

broccoli though, not a big fan of peas (I HATE THEM)
sushi
not so much into the bread or the pretzels
steak

prefers pickles and such

through the looking glass

Julia is so stinking cute. She drinks out of a regular glass and it encircles almost her entire beautiful little face.

donate the bad one

Julia, a few weeks ago: I want to donate the crying baby. She hates me.

Julia, today, as I found Pink Pink, her baby doll (in a pink pumpkin): I want to keep that baby. Pink Pink loves me.

jingle bells

Julia was delighted when she found her jingle bells in a box of her stuff this morning.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is playing and she just asked me to pause it so she could go get her jingle bells.

She melts me.

Supernanny would not be impressed

This little 3-year-old knows all the tricks to avoid bedtime, including:

I'm scared!
I need more kisses (that one works wonders).
My pinkie hurts.
My pajamas are too small.
I have to go potty.
I'm hungry.
I'm thirsty.
I have to tell Daddy something.
Wanders in with a Minnie Mouse polka dotted baseball hat and her Calvin Klein cloud pajamas and tells me she wants a huggie.

This has all seriously happened tonight. And I just looked over and she's standing at my bed. I'm chewing bubble yum and blowing bubbles and she has her finger in front of my mouth because she knows bubbles are in the future.

I need to watch some back episodes of Supernanny, we'll have this girl sleeping through the night again in no time.

Poor Blueblue

Julia, showing her dollies: This is Pinkpink and Purplepurple, her sister. They are so tall. Blueblue, their brother died.

the lack of sleep is worth it

So, we try not to let the kids sleep in our bed.

But every now and then it happens, I'm not gonna lie.

And last night was one of those nights.

Julia somehow ended up in our bed and when the sun shone on my face this morning and woke me up, I opened my eyes to see a smiling 3-year-old inches away from my face.

She smiled for about 10 minutes while asking me about every part of my face. "What's that called?" "I like your eyebrows." "You have a pimple."

Sometimes she wakes up not so happy but today she woke up in a beautiful, happy, mood.

I loved it.

a direct quote from my 3-year-old

Julia: Trying on shoes is fun!

Mama: Yes. Yes it is.

Then we had a big conversation about shopping. This is going to be fun.
